Abrasive metering unit

A device for precisely metering hard particles into the water jet. The amount of particles affects the removal rate and surface finish during cutting.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The abrasive metering unit mixes hard solid particles into the water jet. These particles scrape the workpiece while the jet cuts through it. The dose determines the effectiveness and accuracy of the cutting.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Insufficient dosing leads to poor surface finish and inefficient material removal. Overdosing can damage the tools and contaminate the material. The correct dose is crucial for high productivity and a clean cut surface.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

The dosing amount should be set according to the material and cutting job. For steel, a dose of 1 to 3% is typically used. Check the dosing regularly to ensure it is consistent. If you have issues with surface finish or tool condition, adjust the dosing amount.
