Agglomerated Submerged Arc Flux

A flux produced by drying and bonding for submerged arc welding, which introduces targeted alloying elements into the weld pool.

Agglomerated SAW powder consists of fine grains held together by a binder. During welding, the powder melts and the alloying elements transfer into the weld pool. The powder must be stored clean and dry, otherwise you'll get porosity and defects in the weld. Make sure the grain size matches the welding current and wire diameter, and that the powder flows evenly onto the joint. If the powder has absorbed moisture, you'll burn a bad weld — so dry it beforehand if necessary.
