Active Thermographic Defectoscopy
A non-destructive testing method where a component is thermally stimulated and the transient cooling phase is analyzed using an infrared camera to detect heat accumulation at internal flaws. It enables fast and non-contact detection of delaminations.
You briefly heat the part with a heat source and watch it cool down with the thermal imaging camera. If there's something wrong inside, like delamination or a void, the heat builds up differently and you see it as a hot or cold spot on the image. That way you find subsurface flaws without destroying or touching the part. The key is to heat evenly and align the camera properly, otherwise the result can fool you.
