Active Shielding Gas with CO2

A carbon dioxide-bearing gas mixture that partially dissociates in the arc, thereby increasing oxygen activity in the weld pool. It ensures deep penetration and stable droplet transfer during MAG welding.

Active gas with CO2 content makes the weld pool more fluid and ensures good penetration. The oxygen from the CO2 burns off impurities, which makes welding easier. But too much CO2 in the gas makes the arc harder and can cause more spatter. For normal mild steel MAG welding, use a mixed gas with a low CO2 content; it runs clean and smooth. Just make sure the gas flow is right, otherwise you'll suck in air and get porosity.
