Acoustic Resonance Flaw Analysis

Acoustic resonance fault analysis generates sound waves that excite the component and analyze its internal structure. This enables detection of cracks or structural changes without destruction.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

The method uses sound waves to excite the component and determine its natural resonance frequencies. These frequencies are unique to each component specification and can be influenced by internal cracks or changes in the microstructure.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding

Acoustic resonance fault analysis is particularly useful for detecting internal cracks in complex components that are not easily accessible by visual inspection or other test methods. Incorrect interpretation of results can lead to errors, as certain frequency changes can also be caused by normal deformations.

Workshop Practice & Action Instructions

Use high-quality acoustic equipment with high resolution. Ensure that the component is tested in a quiet environment to minimize external noise. Compare measured frequencies with reference data or theoretical models to identify cracks or changes.
