Aluminum-Scandium Alloy

An innovative high-performance wrought alloy in which scandium additions form fine precipitates that effectively inhibit grain growth during welding. It increases weld seam strength in lightweight design.

Scandium in aluminum keeps the grain structure fine. This prevents the grains from growing too much during welding, which would make the weld soft or prone to cracking. So you get a more stable and stronger weld, especially when joining thin sheets in lightweight construction. Make sure your filler material is clean and dry. Too much heat will cause the fine particles to coarsen and lose their effect. So weld quickly and don't leave it in the heat too long.
