Aluminum-silicon alloy

An aluminum casting and filler metal alloy offering excellent fluidity and low shrinkage during solidification. It is ideal for complex cast components and crack-free weld connections.

For aluminum-silicon cast alloys, TIG welding with the right filler material works best. The silicon makes the material flow well, but you have to be careful that the weld doesn't cool too fast, or it will crack. Clean and dry the workpiece before welding, and if there's a crack in the part, mill it out first. Otherwise, the crack will propagate during welding.
