Anodic Protection

Anodic protection prevents corrosion via electrolysis by keeping the metal passive. It is used in strongly oxidizing acids.

Physico-Chemical Mechanism

The metal is placed as the anode in the electrolytic system and receives electrons, which brings it to a passive state. This prevents corrosion by reducing oxygen molecules.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Wrong application can cause electrolysis problems, which can damage the metal or impair its performance. It's important to ensure the right electrolyte concentration and proper current flow.

Workshop Practice & Procedures

Use a correct electrolyte solution with the specific concentration for the metal. Make sure voltage and current flow are set to maintain the passive state. Monitor the process parameters constantly and correct as needed.
