Anti-Spatter Agent
Anti-spatter is a chemical liquid or paste applied to the parts before welding to prevent weld spatter and reduce mechanical rework.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
Anti-spatter contains chemical compounds that suppress the adherence of weld spatter. These compounds react with the metals and prevent spatter from sticking to specific areas.
Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding
Without anti-spatter, weld spatter can stick to the part surface or the weld seam edges. This can lead to mechanical rework, such as removing spatter or treating cracks. Additionally, the likelihood of corrosion and distortion increases.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
Before welding begins, anti-spatter must be applied to the parts. The application amount varies depending on the material and welding process. A typical thickness is about 0.1 to 0.2 mm. Make sure the anti-spatter is evenly distributed with no gaps or unevenness. After welding, the anti-spatter must be carefully removed to clean the surface.
