Argon (Ar)

Argon is an undisputed shielding gas in arc welding because it does not react with metals and protects the weld from oxidation.

Argon is a shielding gas that shields the melt from the oxygen in the surrounding air during welding. This prevents oxidation and impurities in the weld, which could otherwise lead to pores and cracks. The gas does not react with the material; it only forms a barrier. Make sure the gas flow and coverage match the welding task, otherwise you'll draw in air and the protection is gone.
