Build Rate in Laser Melting
The volume of material successfully melted and solidified per unit time in the additive process. It is a critical economic factor that conflicts with achieving maximum component density.
The deposition rate tells you how much material you process per unit of time. If you crank it up, it goes faster, but you have to make sure the material melts cleanly and doesn't create too many pores or voids. Otherwise, the part becomes brittle and won't hold. Adjust the laser power and speed so the melt pool runs calm and even – then the density is right and the part is stable.
