Oxy-Fuel High-Speed Cutting Head
An oxy-fuel high-speed cutting torch produces a laminar, high-energy oxygen jet for fast cutting of steels and other metals.
Physicochemical Mechanism of Action
The oxy-fuel high-speed cutting torch uses the chemical reaction between oxygen and iron surfaces to create a strong thermal effect. This leads to rapid heating of the cut surface and breakdown of the metal.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
The high speed can cause uneven heating, leading to local overheating and possible deformation of workpieces. Additionally, rapid heating can impair the mechanical properties of the metal.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
Use the oxy-fuel high-speed cutting torch on low-hardness steels and for quick cutting tasks. Ensure the workpiece is held steady to avoid deformation. The optimal cutting speed is typically 10–20 m/min.
