Autogenous oxy-fuel cutting oxygen pressure ratio

The physical ratio between cutting and preheating oxygen pressure in oxy-fuel cutting that controls the combustion rate of the base material. Precise adjustment prevents undesirable grooving on the cut surfaces.

When setting the pressures, note: the ratio between cutting oxygen and preheating flame determines whether the cut is clean or not. Too much cutting oxygen blows out the kerf and makes it unclean; too little and the cutting stream doesn't get through. Set the cutting pressure so that the stream comes out of the nozzle sharp and strong, without spattering or popping. Adjust the preheating flame separately to a calm, neutral flame pattern; then the cut edge will be smooth and free of grooves.
