Automated Phased Array Ultrasonic Inspection
Automated ultrasonic phased array inspection uses computer control and phased array sensors to detect and document weld defects seamlessly.
Physicochemical Mechanism of Action
The technique uses ultrasonic waves emitted by an array of multiple sensors. Through phase-specific control, specific defects such as cracks or pores can be localized and visualized.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
This method enables very precise and detailed analysis of weld quality. Missing or inaccurate inspection can lead to unknown defects that may later cause cracks or failure.
Workshop Practice & Action Instructions
Use a qualified scanner system with phased array sensors. Ensure that the weld pool and environment are controlled. Document all steps and results in detail.
