Automated Wire Feed Monitor

A monitoring system for measuring the constant wire feed speed in GMAW processes. It detects slip or blockages in the hose package early.

Physicochemical Mechanism of Action

The automated wire feed monitor tracks the speed at which the wire is fed in a GMAW process. It uses sensors to measure the wire's position and movement, detecting any deviations or obstructions.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Irregular or too fast feed speed can lead to quality issues such as uneven wire stick-out or incomplete weld. Slip or blockages in the hose package can cause process interruptions and defective welds. Early detection of these problems by the monitoring system prevents additional costs and production losses.

Workshop Practice & Action Instructions

Calibrate the system regularly to ensure accurate measurements. If any anomalies or warnings occur, immediately check the feed speed and adjust if necessary. Keep sensors clean and properly mounted to ensure reliable data.
