Flanged Edge Geometry
A perpendicularly bent edge shape on thin sheets that is often joined by melting without filler material. It provides inherent fitting accuracy in automated productions.
Flanged edges are sheet metal edges that you fold over so that two sheets butt together. The weld then melts both edges together, usually without filler material. It is important that the edges are clean and evenly flanged and that the sheets fit well together. If you melt the edge cleanly, you get a proper joint without cracks. Make sure the edges are not too sharp or uneven, otherwise the material will burn away or you will get stress and cracks.
