Drawn Arc Stud Welding

A subtype of stud welding featuring a lift phase where a drawn arc creates a widespread molten pool on the base material.

In drawn arc stud welding, you draw an arc that melts the workpiece and the stud end. It's important to match the arc time and lift cleanly – too long or too hot, and you get pores and a messy transition. The structure becomes brittle and won't hold. Make sure the contact surfaces are clean and grease-free, and set the parameters so the stud plunges into the melt calmly and without spatter. Once you've got that down, the joint sits clean and holds.
