Stud Welding with Tip Ignition
A short-cycle arc stud welding process where a small ignition tip on the stud explosively vaporizes to ignite the arc. It enables rapid stud attachment to thin sheet metal without burn-through.
The stud has a primer at its tip. When you place the stud and trigger it, the stuff evaporates instantly and ignites the arc. It happens so fast that you hardly get any heat into the sheet – ideal for thin sheets since you won't burn through. Make sure the primer is clean and seated firmly, otherwise the arc won't ignite cleanly or the weld will be nothing. If the part cools too fast after welding, the structure can become hard and brittle. So don't blow it with compressed air afterwards, but let it cool slowly.
