Boron-phosphorus influence on melting temperature
Lowering of the solidus and liquidus points of metal alloys through the accumulation of boron and phosphorus at the grain boundaries.
Boron and phosphorus are unwanted companions in steel. They lower the melting point and migrate to the grain boundaries during welding. This makes the weld brittle and prone to cracking, especially when you have high heat input. Keep the content of both as low as possible, then you'll have no problems with weld quality.
