CAD-to-Path Generation

CAD-to-path generation is the automatic creation of welding paths from 3D models. It speeds up programming for complex parts.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

CAD-to-path generation uses geometric data from a 3D model to compute welding paths. This is done by analyzing part geometry and determining optimal movement paths for the robot.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

This method minimizes human error in manual programming. It increases accuracy and repeatability of welding operations, leading to better part quality. However, faulty modeling or incorrect inputs can lead to unwanted welding paths, causing defects or irregularities in the final product.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

To successfully use CAD-to-path generation:

1. Ensure the 3D model is accurate and complete.

2. Choose the appropriate welding technique and parameters for your parts.

3. Check the generated welding paths for correctness and adjust manually if needed.

4. Test the programming model in simulation before using it on the actual robot.
