Cellulosic electrode
A cellulose stick electrode is a filler metal with a high organic content that produces a gas-rich flame and enables vertical-down welding of pipelines. It improves weld quality through better melt distribution.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
A cellulose stick electrode contains a high level of inorganic and organic material that produces a gas-rich flame during combustion. This flame promotes melt distribution and improves the supply of oxygen to the weld.
Metallurgical Relevance & Risks during Welding
Using the cellulose stick electrode reduces the risk of porosity and increases the strength of the weld. However, if the organic content is too high, it can lead to fusion problems if not handled correctly.
Workshop Practice & Instructions for Use
Use the cellulose stick electrode for vertical-down welding of pipelines. Make sure the flame is stable and there is sufficient oxygen. Avoid excessive temperature differences between the molten pool and the surrounding area.
