CMT Droplet Detachment Mechanism

The mechanically assisted transfer of the weld droplet, where electromagnetic pinch forces are supplemented by axial wire movement. This leads to highly precise, reproducible material placement.

CMT is a process where the wire is mechanically retracted while the arc briefly extinguishes. This makes the material transfer extremely controlled and almost spatter-free. This only works if the wire movement is precisely synchronized with the arc phase. If you notice that the droplet doesn't detach cleanly or the weld bead becomes unstable, it's usually due to incorrect wire feed speed or arc length setting. Set the process so that the short circuit and wire movement work in harmony, then you'll get a clean, smooth weld.
