Coverage Determination

The visual or optical verification of the percentage of the peened or hammered surface to ensure complete plastic deformation without gaps. Full coverage is essential for component service life.

Coverage rate simply means: how much of the area did you actually hit and deform? If you leave gaps, you'll have weak spots later that can crack under load. Especially with hard material, you need to go over it cleanly and over the full area, otherwise durability won't work out. So: keep your eyes open and check that you've really caught everything, then it'll be fine.
