High-vacuum diffusion bonding
A thermal joining process conducted in an evacuated furnace chamber that prevents surface oxidation and promotes atomic diffusion for joint formation.
Diffusion welding under high vacuum joins metals by pressing them together under pressure and heat until the atoms migrate into each other. The vacuum is important so that no oxides interfere with the joint. Make sure the surfaces are clean and flat, otherwise you won't get a tight seam. If the temperature or pressure is off, you'll distort the part or the joint won't hold.
