Digital radiography using flat panel detectors
Flat-panel detector digital radiography converts X-ray images directly into digital form without chemical development. This increases contrast resolution and speeds up inspection time.
Physicochemical Mechanism of Action
The method uses semiconductor flat-panel detectors that convert X-rays directly into electrical signals. These signals are then converted into digital images.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
The higher contrast resolution enables more precise detection of defects such as cracks or deformations. However, failure to calibrate the detectors can lead to false results, compromising the reliability of the inspection.
Workshop Practice & Action Instructions
Ensure the flat-panel detectors are calibrated regularly. Use a contrast resolution of at least 10 lp/mm for optimal results. The inspection time should be under 3 minutes.
