Digital Radiography Detector
A flat-panel electronic imaging system for ionizing radiation that instantly digitizes and stores radiographic images.
Physicochemical Mechanism of Action
The digital radiography detector consists of a sensor chip built on a matrix of photodiodes or pixels. These convert incoming ionizing radiation into electrical signals. An A/D converter digitizes these signals and stores them in the computer.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
In the workshop, a digital radiography detector is used to inspect the quality of weld seams and component structures. Incorrect settings or defects in the detector can lead to inaccurate images, resulting in misinterpretation of the structure and possible defects.
Workshop Practice & Action Instructions
Ensure the detector is properly calibrated. Use the correct settings for the material and welding process. Save all images with accurate metadata for later traceability.
