Wire Feed Precision Control

The electronic control of the wire feed in the WAAM process ensures that the arc is always stable and the material deposition is uniform.

Physico-chemical mechanism of action

The wire feed precision control monitors the speed of the introduced wire and adjusts it electronically to ensure constant material deposition. This prevents fluctuations in the arc and ensures a homogeneous structure.

Metallurgical relevance & risks in welding

Inaccurate wire feeding can lead to uneven material deposition, which leads to stresses within the weld and possible cracks or deformations in the final product. Precise control prevents these problems and increases the quality of the overall welding process.

Workshop practice & action instructions

To use the wire feed precision control, make sure the electronic system is correctly calibrated and continuously monitored. The prescribed wire feed speed must be maintained, as specified by the manufacturer or process planning. If there are deviations from the standard target values, you should definitely carry out a check and, if necessary, adjust the system.
