Wire Feed Lubricant

A lubricant applied to the welding wire to reduce friction and ensure smooth feeding.

Physicochemical Mechanism of Action

The wire feed lubricant forms a thin coating on the surface of the welding wire. This coating reduces the direct contact area between the wire and the hose package, thereby reducing friction. This makes the wire feeding smoother and jerk-free.

Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding

Without sufficient lubricant, high frictional pressure can occur, which may deform or even damage the wire. This leads to irregular feeding movements and can impair the quality of the weld. Lack of lubricant also increases the risk of porosity due to increased friction.

Workshop Practice & Instructions

Ensure that the wire feed lubricant is applied regularly. A recommended amount is about 1-2 ml per meter of welding wire. Make sure to distribute the lubricant evenly over the entire wire length. If feed problems occur, first check the amount and application of the lubricant.
