Coil Magnetization
A magnetic particle testing method where the component is enclosed by a current-carrying coil to generate a longitudinal field in the workpiece.
With through magnetization, you send the current directly through the workpiece or through a coil that surrounds the part. This creates magnetic field lines that run transversely to the current direction in the component. This makes it possible to make longitudinal defects and cracks that are perpendicular to the field line visible with magnetic powder. Make sure that the field strength is sufficient and that the powder is applied evenly. If you test after welding, the part must first cool down, otherwise the residual heat will falsify the result.
