Dynamic recrystallization
Formation of new, dislocation-free grains directly during high-temperature plastic deformation. It prevents excessive work hardening during the forming process itself.
Dynamic recrystallization occurs when the metal forms new, stress-free grains during hot deformation. In welding, it allows the structure in the heat-affected zone to recover without becoming coarse or brittle. If conditions aren't right—like cooling too fast or no deformation—the grain stays irregular and you get cracks or hot cracks. So make sure the heat input is right and the part doesn't cool too quickly, then the structure sorts itself out.
