Real-Time Weld Defect Detection

Real-time weld defect detection monitors the weld in real time for porosity or cracks using optical or thermographic sensors. This enables immediate corrections and marking of defective areas.

Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action

Optical or thermographic sensors constantly scan the weld pool for anomalies such as porosity or cracks. The sensors detect temperature differences or visual deviations that indicate defects.

Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks

Defects such as porosity or cracks can impair the strength and toughness of the weld. Without real-time detection, these defects are only discovered after cooling, leading to additional costs and delays.

Workshop Practice & Action Instructions

Install optical or thermographic sensors at the weld pool. Ensure the sensors are regularly calibrated and their measuring ranges checked. When defects are detected, immediately mark the defective area and carry out necessary corrections.
