Noble Gas Argon

An inert shielding gas with high density that shields the arc and weld pool from atmospheric contamination.

Argon is a shielding gas that does not react with the weld pool. It displaces oxygen and moisture from the welding zone; otherwise, the material burns or oxidizes and the weld becomes porous and brittle. You must ensure that the gas flow and supply match the torch. If too little gas arrives or a draft blows away the gas shield, you'll draw air into the weld and the weld will be bad. Regularly check the nozzle and the gas cylinder, then the weld stays clean and tight.
