Effective Weld Heat Source
A mathematical model (such as the double ellipsoidal heat source by Goldak) that represents the spatial energy distribution in numerical welding simulations.
The effective heat source in welding describes how the energy arrives and is distributed in the workpiece. That depends on the electrode, the material, and the speed you're moving. If you misjudge that, the weld cools unevenly, and you get cracks or a brittle structure. So make sure the heat goes cleanly into the weld and the heat-affected zone, then the part will be stable.
