Piercing strategy

The procedural method for penetrating closed sheet metal before starting the actual cut. It prevents damage to the optics or nozzle caused by splashing molten material.

When piercing sheet metal, you should first go in with a thin, sharp stab before ramping up the cutting speed. If you don't, the melt splashes up and clogs your optics or nozzle. So pierce cleanly, then the cut starts smoothly and you won't have a mess on the lens.
