Electrochemical Pickling
An assisted cleaning process where oxides and contaminants are removed extremely rapidly by applying a direct electrical current in an electrolyte. It enables localized rework without aggressive pastes.
Electrochemical pickling is a process to clean the surface before welding. The contamination is removed by an electrochemical reaction in the electrolyte, which improves weld quality and avoids porosity. If you do it wrong, for example with too much voltage or too long exposure time, it attacks the base material. You can see this by a dull or rough surface, and in the worst case, notches form that can later lead to cracks. Make sure the electrolyte matches the material. After pickling, rinse the area thoroughly and check the surface. If it looks uniform, all is good.
