Electron Beam Orbital Welding
Electron beam orbital welding is a high-performance vacuum process producing narrow welds with minimal heat-affected zone. Ideal for rotationally symmetric parts.
Physical-Chemical Working Mechanism
Electron beam orbital welding uses high-energy electron beams that hit the metal and heat it. The beams follow a circular orbit, leading to even melting.
Metallurgical Relevance & Risks in Welding
This process prevents heat effects and porosity because the melt zone is very small. It also reduces the risk of hot cracking and increases weld strength. However, lack of vacuum or inaccurate beam direction can cause quality issues.
Workshop Practice & Action Instructions
Use this process for parts with symmetrical shapes and weld axes parallel to the rotation axis. Ensure stable vacuum and precise beam direction. Typical melt time is 10-20 ms per layer.
