Electron Beam Welding Addition
A specifically introduced wire or foil addition in high-energy beam welding processes to compensate for alloying losses due to evaporation or to bridge gap tolerances. It optimizes the chemical composition of the fusion zone.
In electron beam welding, you can feed filler material as wire or foil, for example, to bridge gaps or compensate for alloy losses. This is especially important for thick plates or when the weld would otherwise sink too much. The filler must be clean and dry, and you set the feed speed so that it runs calmly and evenly into the melt. Make sure the filler doesn't melt too quickly or get pushed away, otherwise you'll get an unclean weld. The exact settings depend on the material and the joint geometry; you have to experiment a bit.
