Depowdering Device
Powder removal device removes unsintered residual powder from internal channels and cavities. Mechanically or with ultrasonic support.
Physicochemical mechanism of action
The powder removal device uses mechanical movements or ultrasonic waves to remove unsintered residual powder from weld channels and cavities. Mechanical methods such as gear blocks or vibrating tubes shake the powder loose and lead it out. Ultrasonic waves vibrate the liquid and dislodge the powder, making it easier to wash away.
Metallurgical relevance & risks in welding
Unremoved residual powder can cause corrosion inside components, affecting service life and safety. It can also cause blockages in weld channels, hindering or slowing welding. In addition, unsintered powder can lead to uneven stress distribution and cause cracks in the material.
Workshop practice & instructions
Use the powder removal device after welding, before the component is washed. Make sure all internal channels and cavities are thoroughly cleaned. For mechanical methods, ensure that the movements are not too strong to damage the material. For ultrasonic powder removal, make sure the energy settings are correct and the powder is completely removed.
