Epoxy Resin Coating
Epoxy resin coating is a highly resistant coating system made of cross-linked epoxy resins that adheres well to metal surfaces and is chemically resistant.
Physical-chemical mechanism of action
Epoxy resins consist of epoxy compounds that are converted into a solid, cross-linked bond through a reaction with a curing agent. This reaction is often initiated using hot air or UV light.
Metallurgical relevance & risks during welding
The coating protects metal surfaces from corrosion and chemical attack, which is especially important in electrolysis and the chemical industry. Incorrect application or too thin a coating can, however, lead to poor adhesion and faster wear.
Workshop practice & instructions
Use epoxy resin coatings on metal surfaces that are exposed to aggressive environments or when you want to prevent weld failures. Typical application thickness is 0.1 to 0.3 mm. Make sure the surface is clean and dry before applying the coating.
