Eutectic Copper-Silver Alloy
A specialized material for electrical contacts and brazing applications that ensures maximum conductivity at a minimal melting point. It prevents thermal overloads in high-current electrical components.
Eutectic copper-silver alloys melt at a much lower temperature than pure copper or silver because the two metals become liquid together at the eutectic point. This makes them ideal for soldering or welding electrical contacts where you need high conductivity without thermally overloading the base material. Just make sure you have precise control over the heat input – too much heat or too long exposure will ruin the fine microstructure and thus the conductivity. In practice, it's best to use a process with precise, short energy input, such as laser welding or resistance welding with finely controlled current. When soldering, don't skimp on flux, but keep the time in the hot zone as short as possible. If you overheat the structure, the material becomes brittle and conducts worse – then the only fix is to redo the joint.
