Eutectic graphite
Graphite that crystallizes directly from the eutectic melt of cast iron during solidification, shaping the macroscopic microstructure and machinability.
Eutectic graphite forms during cooling of the melt directly from the eutectic point. The structure depends strongly on the silicon and carbon content. When welding, you have to be careful: too much of it makes the material brittle and crack-prone, too little leads to an unfavorable, hard structure. Adjust the filler materials and cooling accordingly, then you'll get a usable result.
