Explosion clad tube sheet manufacturing
The process engineering fabrication of heavy thermal apparatus components where corrosion-resistant special materials are applied fully and with high strength via detonation methods onto thick-walled carbon steel support plates.
Explosion-clad tube sheets consist of a base material, usually carbon steel, and a thin cladding of a special material applied by detonation. The bond is purely metallurgical and very strong, but extremely sensitive to incorrect heat input. When welding there, you must be careful not to tear off or overlay the cladding, otherwise the layer will peel off or you'll get cracks in the transition zone. Stick to the welding parameters specified for the respective cladding material, and weld the joint cleanly with controlled heat, then it will hold.
