Video Endoscopy
Remote visual inspection is an imaging visual testing method with electronic image sensors at the probe tip, allowing high-resolution documentation of internal geometries.
Physicochemical mechanism of action
Remote video inspection uses an electronic camera at the probe tip to capture high-resolution images of surfaces visible from inside. The electronics convert light into electrical signals and form an image from them.
Metallurgical relevance & risks in welding
Remote video inspection is especially helpful for checking weld quality, particularly in complex or hard-to-reach areas. It can reveal cracks, porosity, and other defects that other methods might miss. An inadequate image or poor probe positioning can lead to false diagnoses.
Workshop practice & instructions
Always use a high-resolution remote video inspection system with clear, stable imaging. Make sure the probe is positioned correctly and the light is aimed well at the surface being inspected. Document all images carefully and compare them against standards or templates to ensure an accurate assessment of weld quality.
