Flash Butt Rail Welding
Flash butt welding is an automated flash butt welding process for rail joints through short circuits and subsequent upsetting, creating continuous seamless tracks.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
The process uses rapid heating of rail pieces through short circuits. The ends are then pressed together and upset, creating a solid connection.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
Incorrect settings or irregular heating can cause non-uniform structure and cracks. Excessive pressure times can deform the ends.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
Use an automated flash butt welding machine with correctly set short circuit times and pressure times. Continuously monitor temperature and pressure to ensure a uniform joint.
