Flux Activation Temperature

The lower threshold at which the chemical components of the flux become active and break down oxides. Below this mark, the effect fails to occur.

The flux has to get hot enough first so it can work properly. Only then does it break up the oxide layer on the metal and the weld pool becomes clean. If it's too cold, the flux does nothing and you get pores in the weld.
