Fluxless Induction Brazing
Flux-free induction brazing heats joining zones quickly and locally with electromagnetic fields in a shielding gas atmosphere, without using flux.
Physicochemical Mechanism of Action
Flux-free induction brazing uses high-frequency alternating fields generated in a coil. These fields induce electrical currents in the metal, leading to heat generation. The shielding gas atmosphere prevents oxidation of the metal and ensures a clean joint.
Metallurgical Relevance & Brazing Risks
This process is especially useful for thin-walled joining zones, as it leaves no flux residues. However, it reduces control over the microstructure and can cause uneven heat distribution if not precisely set. This can result in deformations or incomplete joints.
Workshop Practice & Operating Instructions
Use high-frequency induction equipment with properly calibrated coils. Ensure the shielding gas atmosphere is continuous and sufficient. Monitor heat development carefully and adjust frequency and brazing time as needed. Use this process mainly for thin-walled or critical applications where flux residues are not tolerated.
