Flux Corrosion Corrosion Inhibitor
A chemical additive in fluxes that prevents corrosion on metal surfaces and increases the service life of weld test specimens.
Physical-Chemical Mechanism of Action
Flux corrosion inhibitors react with metal ions on the surface and prevent them from reacting with oxygen. This breaks the corrosion cycle and protects the metal surface from rust formation.
Metallurgical Relevance & Welding Risks
Without a flux corrosion Corrosion Inhibitor, corrosion can occur on the weld test specimen surface, leading to a deterioration of mechanical properties. This can result in cracks and deformation in the material.
Workshop Practice & Instructions
Use flux corrosion inhibitors in the concentrated amounts recommended by the manufacturer. Make sure the flux flows well and covers all metal parts completely. If necessary, the flux content can be periodically checked and replenished as needed.
