Forming Gas Flow Optimization
The process-adapted control of the gas volume flow to prevent negative pressure and air suction at the root. Optimized flow ensures the residual oxygen content with minimal media consumption.
Make sure the purge gas flow is not too low, otherwise the weld root will suck in air and you'll get porosity. But too much gas is also not good, it just wastes material and can strain the machine. Set the flow so that the residual oxygen content stays in the range required by the process, and check it regularly. The exact value depends on your welding process and material, so you have to rely on experience and specifications.
