Forming Gas Dew Point

The parameter indicating the moisture content of the shielding and forming gas, which can lead to hydrogen absorption and porosity in the weld seam if temperatures drop below critical levels. A low dew point is essential for moisture-free processes.

The dew point of the forming gas tells you how much moisture is in it. The lower the dew point, the drier the gas. If the gas is too moist, water condenses on the hot metal, leading to pores in the weld. So you have to make sure the gas is dry enough and the dew point doesn't rise too high, otherwise you'll have trouble with weld quality.
