Forming Gas Flow Regulator
A device for precise control of the inert gas on the component back side during welding. Prevents gas inclusions caused by turbulence and insufficient protection due to underdosing.
Physicochemical mechanism of action
The purging gas flow controller measures and regulates the amount of inert gas supplied to the back side of the component during welding. This gas protects the component edge from oxidation and stirs the weld pool to prevent gas inclusions.
Metallurgical relevance & risks when welding
Insufficient dosing of the inert gas can lead to oxidation of the component back side, resulting in cracks and loss of strength. Excessive dosing, on the other hand, can lead to gas inclusions and poor gas distribution in the weld pool, also causing quality problems.
Workshop practice & instructions
Use the purging gas flow controller for exact control of the inert gas. Ensure that the flow rate is between 10 and 20 L/min, depending on the welding process and base material. Constantly monitor the gas dosing and correct manually if necessary.
